Indian cricket...atrocious!!
My focus today is on our current Indian cricket team and its performance.
After seeing the performance of our team in this tour of South Africa, I am really feeling sorry for the team. Are we short of time to practice? I don’t think so, because the players have time to sign new contracts and do modeling assignments.
Now in this series of South Africa, the reason the selectors gave for not choosing V.V.S. Laxman is that he is not physically fit for playing international level cricket. The next thing I see after a couple of days is that he has been called in the ODI team and what more, he is the vice captain of the team. The only conclusion I can make from this is that our team and the management including the selectors are confused as in what they want. Another example of us being the confused team is: In cricket, number 3 position or 1 down as we say, is considered as a crucial position. Out of the 4 games we played, in the 1st, Kaif batted at three. In 2nd, Dravid. In 3rd, Jaffer. And in 4th, Laxman. Need to say more??
India needed experience to face such situation. We have always struggled on fast bouncy pitches. They needed guys who know the conditions and can swim in them. Are we compromising experience for upcoming talent?? Are we in the stage to experiment with the biggest event in cricket is just months away?? And if not then,
Did we miss Ganguly??
Ganguly….a guy who has 10000 odd runs in his pocket with an eminent average of 40.65, who has proven to be the most successful captain for the team, who has always, lead the team from the front….u just cant throw and neglect him, can you?? At least this doesn’t make any sense to me. He deserves a chance.He just scored a century in the Duleep trophy and now he is back in the test squad. He will be, and should be back in the team that he deserves to be in. At least I feel so.
